Form Questions

To help accurately match students with other students of different backgrounds, we request that students fill out a questionaire that our algorithm uses for student matching.

Students are asked to share responses to these questions on a scale of 1-5, where 1 is "not really me" and 5 is "yes, that's me!" – all questions have a "NA" option as well, for students who are uncomfortable sharing certain information with the Filos app. All of this information is kept private and only used for matching purposes. This information is never revealed to any students or teachers. Below is a sample of some of the types of questions we may ask students to answer.

Example Questions

My parents and family members are educated and have college degrees or graduate degrees.


I am outgoing and confident.


I enjoy participating in sports.


I enjoy participating in extracurriculars (i.e. Drama, Music, Volunteering etc.).


Religion and/or spirituality is important to me.


Financial resources provided by my family contribute to the privileges that I enjoy.


My race and culture is an important part of my identity.


Most people know what race and culture I am because it is obvious.


My gender is an important part of my identity.


I identify with my biological gender.


My race and culture is similar to most of the people in my community.


I do not feel discriminated or stereotyped by people in my community because of my race.


I do not feel discriminated or stereotyped by people in my community because of my gender.


I do not feel discriminated or stereotyped by people in my sexual preference, gender identity, or sexual orientation.


I do not feel discriminated or stereotyped by people in my community because of a lack of financial resources.


My physical abilities do not affect me in a negative way.


I feel supported by people in my community when I choose to break from social norms.
