THE FILOS PROJECT

an educational platform designed to combat stereotypes

Welcome to The Filos Project, an Ed-Tech platform developed by students for students with a commitment to diminishing social barriers and prejudices.

aboutFILOS

The Filos Platform is an innovative new way to expose students to different experiences that has been designed by students for students to use in the classroom setting. Whether it’s learning more about certain customs or simply making a new friend, Filos connects students across the world, opening their horizons to new perspectives.

BY STUDENTS, FOR STUDENTS

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to create an integrated learning experience that facilitates opportunities for students to form personal connections that are not tainted by preconceived biases. We believe that learning about each other’s stories helps us build stronger, safer, and more inclusive communities, all over the world.

HOW IT WORKS

Mobile Phone

ADOPT THE PLATFORM

Educators may register for the program through our website. After creating an account, they may invite students to download & install Filos on their smartphones. To promote positivity, we advise that teachers make this an in-class, voluntary enrichment activity.

Empty Classroom

PHASE 1

To initiate conversation, the Filos Algorithm connects two classes of students from different communities and backgrounds. Students are paired with one other through an immersive discussion-based environment, comparable to a real-time penpal-type experience. Within the conversation, teachers may either provide structured topics & discussion questions or allow a more organic, free-form discussion experience.

Holding Hands

PHASE 2

After students have had a chance to form a personal connection through the sharing of stories, the second phase permits students to have a face-to-face conversation with each other. Classes paired within the same region may physically meet at a Filos-sponsored event, or classes may use an in-app embedded video chat to connect with each other.
